Texas Law Shield is proud to team up with the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) and the Texas Concealed Handgun Association (TCHA), and we encourage our members to attend the upcoming annual meetings of these two fine groups to make new friends, learn new techniques about shooting safely, and visit with your Texas Law Shield staff.
“We are proud to be Guardian Sponsors of the TSRA Annual Convention and a corporate sponsor of TCHA,” said National Sales Director Peter J. Hermosa. “Together, we fight for the 2nd Amendment rights of our Members to keep and bear and use firearms in The Lone Star State.”
The Texas State Rifle Association’s 2017 Annual General Meeting will be held Feb. 24-25 at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock. Doug DuBois, Jr., TSRA’s executive director, said, “We invite all members of TSRA to join us in Round Rock, but we do request pre-registration, along with purchasing tickets for the TSRA Foundation Fundraising Banquet Friday night and the TSRA Awards Banquet Saturday Night.”
The annual meeting schedule begins on Friday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. with committee meetings at the Austin Marriott North, located at 2600 La Frontera Blvd. in Round Rock. The TSRA Foundation will hold their fundraising event Friday night, to support their education and training efforts.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, U.S. Senator John Cornyn is slated to appear, along with featured keynote speaker Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Senator Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) will receive TSRA’s Doc Brown Legislator of the Year Award. Birdwell is being honored for his role in getting Campus Carry legislation passed in the 2015 legislative session.
Other events on Saturday include a Legislative Update from TSRA Legislative Director and Lobbyist Alice Tripp, during a ticketed luncheon event. The afternoon will include a presentation on National Firearms Act Trusts, an NRA Reloading session, a Refuse to be a Victim presentation, and a session on “Social Media & Digital Publishing” with the Collier Gun Girls and Austin Sure Shots.

In late March, the Texas Concealed Handgun Association will host its 20th annual conference from March 31 through April 2, 2017 at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel and Conference Center in Kerrville.
TCHA Executive Director Mollie Clakley said, “Since this is the association’s 20th anniversary, the directors and officers have made big plans to make this the best conference yet.”
Clakley said the keynote speaker for the upcoming conference will be Dr. J. Pete Blair, executive director of the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training out of Texas State University. Dr. Blair is recognized as a leading expert in the field of active shooter events, she said. “Additionally, our special guest instructor is Ed Head of Gunsite Academy, who has taught thousands of gun owners, from beginners to special operations personnel, in his 20-plus years as a firearms instructor,” Clakley said.
At the TCHA annual meeting, Texas Law Shield’s National Operations Director Dwayne McBryde will conduct a Gunshot Wounds First Aid Course on Friday, March 31 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Texas Law Shield Independent Program Attorney Larry Bloomquist will discuss how your 4th, 5th and 6th Amendment rights work if you are forced to use your gun in self defense. Bloomquist’s “Search and Seizure” seminar is set for Saturday, April 1 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
