The 3 Mistakes Not Worth Making for New Jersey Gun Owners…

The following is a video transcript.

Hello, Evan Nappen here, U.S. LawShield Independent Program Attorney for New Jersey. Today I want to talk to you about three common mistakes that New Jersey gun owners can make, and I do not want you to make them.

Firearm: Private Sales

Here’s number one: New Jersey has banned the private sale of firearms. Even with the paperwork, all sales of firearms have to go through a dealer. The only narrow exception is for immediate family members. But short of that, everything goes through a dealer.

Hollow Nose Ammunition

Mistake number two: using hollow nose (or hallow point) ammunition. Hollow nose ammunition is lawful, but it is narrowly restricted. You can go from the place of purchase to your home, or you can go to the target range, or use it for hunting, if lawful for (what you are) hunting. But that is it. If you are outside those exemptions, you can have a serious problem.

Magazines

Finally: magazines. New Jersey has banned all magazines that hold over 10 rounds and that fit into semi-automatic firearms, and there is no grandfathering. Make sure you do not possess any of these magazines.

Do not make any of these common mistakes. If you have any more questions, please call U.S. LawShield and ask to speak to your Independent Program Attorney. Thanks.
