Texas Law Shield members should be happy to see that according to one demographic ranking firm, the state’s cities are well down the list of most dangerous nationally.
In a compilation of the top-100 most dangerous cities in the country determined by using FBI data from all 17,000 local law-enforcement agencies in America, NeighborhoodScout developed a list of specific neighborhoods in America that have the highest predicted rates of violent crime per 1,000 neighborhood residents.
The highest-ranked (most dangerous) Texas location was Odessa at No. 58. Weslaco (No. 61), Beaumont (No. 62), and Houston (No. 68) were the other top-100 cities.
Violent crimes include murder, forcible rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. “These neighborhoods are the epicenters of violence in America, where social issues are likely to ignite into violence and spread,” according to NeighborhoodScout’s summary of the list.
NeighborhoodScout is the consumer arm of Location, Inc., a geographic research and data mining company that specializes in location analysis, demographic and school data information products. The company is based in Massachusetts.
The top-10 most dangerous neighborhoods in the country were No. 1, Camden, NJ; No. 2, Chester, PA; No. 3, Detroit, MI; No. 4, Saginaw, MI; No. 5, Oakland, CA; No. 6, Bessemer, AL; No. 7, Flint, MI; No. 8, Atlantic City, NJ; No. 9, Wilmington, DE, and No. 10, Memphis, TN.
