Taking Proper Care of Your Full-Size 1911

When it comes to taking proper care of your full-size 1911, you need to know the safest, most efficient way to disassemble your firearm. It’s a simple, step-by-step process that only requires a few tools, some knowledge of the parts of your gun and some common sense. Remember: Before working on any firearm, make sure the magazine is empty and removed. Also, make sure the chamber is empty and the firearm is unloaded.

This specific video comes to Law Shield courtesy of Rock Island Armory, and it shows how to disassemble the company’s G.I. Model, but the techniques will work on many other 1911s as well.

As always, Texas and U.S. Law Shield don’t endorse products or services, but we do try to pass along items of interest we believe members will enjoy seeing.
