As our Law Shield members go afield this fall, it’s always worth reiterating a few safety tips.
1 Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
2 Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
3 Be sure of your target and aware of what is beyond it.
4 Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
But once you’re in the field, you’ve got to know how to execute safe-firearm carries in certain situations. Here’s a quick video on how to modify your shotgun-carry position to account for other hunters in your group.
