Law Shield is reporting that a pro-gun group took Michael Bloomberg’s “Everytown for Gun Safety” name — before the former mayor’s new group could get it.
The administrator of the Facebook page, who refused to give a name, provided BuzzFeed with the following statement about the motivation behind the page: “I took the Bloomberg name because I wanted this page to remain open to debate, unlike his group at Moms Demand Action that blocks anyone with alternative views.
“Gun owners are getting a bad rep nation wide from their anti gun propaganda. As to who I am, I am your average citizen that believes the Second Amendment ‘shall not be infringed.’”
On the page, the admin wrote, “Something interesting to think about. When creating this page, the first 15 that were tried, were taken. But when we tried to go to them, it said the page didn’t exist. Makes me wonder how much Bloomin Onion paid facebook to hold those URLs.”
Some of the local names of the group are being snapped up, too.
Does your area or neighborhood need an “Everytown” Facebook page? Better hurry, they’re going fast.
