Following the override last month of a gubernatorial veto of sweeping gun law changes in Missouri, a provision of the law is set to go into effect today, which is 30 days after the override.
Under the new provisions of the “Stand Your Ground Law,” you have no duty to retreat, and you have the right to stand your ground if you are on private property you own or lease or “you are in any other location where you have a right to be.”
This is a revision to RSMo §563.031(3) and became effective today, October 14, 2016.
Other provisions of the new law do not go into effect until January 1, 2017.
