Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore, R-Las Vegas, has introduced a campus-carry gun bill in Nevada, which would allow people with concealed weapons permits to bring their firearms to campus, public schools, and day care centers.
Fiore commented about the bill to the New York Times and has been criticized for her statement.
She said, “If these young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm, I wonder how many men will want to assault them. The sexual assaults that are occurring would go down, once these sexual predators get a bullet in their head.”
Despite any controversy her comments may have caused, Assemblywoman Fiore stands by her remarks. “I know I didn’t say it in the most eloquent way, Jeff,” Fiore told News 3. “However, I’m standing wholeheartedly by the sentiment because I want every citizen, whether they’re on a college campus or not to have the right to protect him or herself from sexual assault.”
