Know Your Personal-Defense Shotgun

Law Shield recommends to our members that you pattern your particular self-defense shotguns so that you know how they work in all scenarios. Despite popular belief, shotguns should be treated as precision tools at close ranges.

In this video, Clint Smith, president and director of the Thunder Ranch training center, shares his knowledge of the practical application of shotguns.

This drill will show you how to determine your gun’s pattern at various distances and, therefore, how precisely you need to aim at your intended target.

The shooter is instructor Rick Staples, who is using a 500 Thunder Ranch from Mossberg.
