Kel-Tec’s CMR-30 Carbine Is Shipping

Kel-Tec has announced availability of its CMR-30 (Carbine Magnum Rimfire/30 Rounds), saying in a company Facebook post that the blowback-operated .22 WMR (.22 Magnum) will have an MSRP of $630.

Of particular interest to the Law Shield staff was the unloaded weight of the carbine, only 3.8 pounds. That is light enough to handle easily for older and younger shooters. Paired with the PMR-30 pistol, also a .22 WMR (.22 Magnum), it could be a potent self-defense combination for hand- or strength-impaired folks. This carbine will only accept the PMR-30’s 30-round magazines.

It features a multi-positional stock, a 1913 Picatinny rail system on the top and bottom of the barrel, ambidextrous safety, ambidextrous magazine release (heel catch), ambidextrous stock release, ambidextrous sling loops, and ambidextrous non-reciprocating operating handles.

It has a captive recoil system, single push-out assembly pin, nitride-coated barrel, very low lock time, a rigid aluminum upper assembly and polymer lower assembly. The barrel is also threaded 1/2-28 TPI to run with a silencer. As always, check federal and local laws about magazine capacity.

The barrel is 16.15 inches in length, so no SBR tax stamp is needed. The overall length with the stock collapsed is 22.7 inches; with the stock extended its 30.6 inches long. Length of pull ranges from 10.3 to 14.2 inches.

Receiver width is 1.2 inches, and the maximum width across the operating handles is 2.9 inches. It’s only 6.6 inches tall. Nominal trigger weight about 4.5 pounds.

As always, Law Shield doesn’t endorse products, but we do want to let members know about new products or services of potential interest.
