Justified or Jail… Can You Protect Your Property in New Jersey?

The following is a video transcript.

Today I’d like to talk to you about an interesting question of law. Can you shoot somebody breaking into your car in New Jersey? The answer is no—don’t do that. The reason is because you’re using deadly force. It’s simply a matter of property. What you want to do is call the police. Do not use deadly force to merely defend property.

If you have any more questions about the use of deadly force, contact U.S. LawShield and ask to speak to your Independent Program Attorney.
