Hunting and Fishing Now a Constitutional Right in Texas!

On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, Texas voters overwhelmingly approved a Constitutional amendment that protects Texans’ right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife, and to prevent future legislative attempts to limit the right.  It further holds that hunting and fishing are preferred methods for managing and controlling wildlife.

It further ensures that wildlife conservation and management decisions continue to be based on sound science in order to preserve Texas’ hunting heritage for generations to come and to protect it against future attacks based on misguided emotions.

The Texas Legislative Council says the amendment wouldn’t prohibit other methods of culling or controlling animal populations and would still allow laws prohibiting hunting methods deemed cruel and inhumane.

Texas becomes the 19th state to have Right to Hunt and Fish amendments in their constitutions.
