HPR Introduces New Black Ops Ammunition

Law Shield members who are interesting in trying new rounds for their concealed-carry arms should know that HPR Ammunition is shipping its Black Ops line of ammunition with new chamberings in 9mm Luger, 40 S&W and 45 Auto.

HPR (High Precision Range) is manufactured in Payson, Arizona, and its bullets are hollow-point projectiles with added expansion control, which the company claims will deliver a higher percent of bullet weight retention and deeper penetration for personal defense. Casings for the Black Ops lines are a polished silver color. All Black Ops rounds are packaged in boxes of 50 rounds.

Tested in a 4-inch barrel, the 9mm Black Ops uses an 85-grain bullet that makes a muzzle velocity of 1259 fps and muzzle energy of 299 foot-pounds. Velocity at 50 yards is 1154 fps and energy at 50 yards is 251 foot-pounds.

Tested in a 4-inch barrel, the 40 S&W Black Ops uses a 105-grain bullet with a muzzle velocity of 1323 fps and muzzle energy of 408 foot-pounds. Velocity at 50 yards is 1205 fps and energy at 50 yards is 339 foot-pounds.

Tested in a 5-inch barrel, the 45 ACP Black Ops uses a 150-grain bullet with a muzzle velocity of 1095 fps and muzzle energy of 399 foot-pounds. Velocity at 50 yards is 1029 fps and energy at 50 yards is 352 foot-pounds.
