It was your typical pro-wrestling match June 4, 2016, at the American Wrestling Federation arena in Ringgold, Georgia. The “good guys” being cheered on while the “bad-guys” enjoyed a chorus of boos.
But for a 59-year-old female fan named Patricia Anne Crowe, it was anything but typical.
During the match, “bad-guy” wrestler Paul Lee had his opponent, “Iron Man,” tied up in the ropes and was beating him with a chair.
Apparently that offended Crowe who approached the ring with a knife and attempted to cut the wrestler free.
Lee then told the woman, who he claims was missing teeth, to, “Sit her toothless self back down.”
Part of Lee’s character is to draw heat from the crowd and banter back and forth with spectators to get them riled up.
However, his comment did not go over well with Crowe who did not appreciate the comments that Lee made about her appearance. So she pulled a loaded 38-caliber handgun on him and his manager.
Lee quickly took the gun from the woman and subdued her while waiting for police to show up.
“She had that thing loaded with one in the chamber and the safety off. All it would have taken was for her to get shaky with that thing and it could have fired,” Lee said.
Lee said the woman had been to shows before over the years and should have known it was all part of the act.
Crowe is charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct. She was released from jail Monday on a $4,000 bond.
